Important Nursing Normal Values (1-20)

These are the first 20 Nursing normal values that all nurses, nurse enthusiasts and tech people should know. In here you will know what is normal and what is not just by studying here online.

1. Temperature = 36.8°C (average oral 37°C, rectal 37.5°C, axilla 36.5°C)
2. Pulse Rate (PR)

  • 120-160 bpm (beats per minute) – infant
  • 90-140 bpm – toddler
  • 80-110 bpm – preschool
  • 75-100 bpm – school age
  • 60-90 bpm – adolescent
  • 60-100 bpm – adult

3. Respiratory Rate (RR)

  • 30-60 cpm (cycles per minute) – newborn
  • 30-50 cpm- infant
  • 25-32 cpm – toddler
  • 16-30 cpm – child
  • 16-19cpm – adolescent
  • 12-20 cpm – adult

4. Blood Pressure (BP) = 110-140/60-90 mmHg, (average 120/80 mmHg)

  • Stage 1 HPN = 140-159/90-99 mmHg
  • Stage 2 HPN = 160-179/100-109 mmHg
  • Stage3 HPN = ≥180/≥110 mmHg

5. PPr (pulse pressure) = 30-50 mmHg
6. Stroke Volume (SV) = 60-70 ml
7. CO (cardiac output) = 5,000 cc
8. SaO2 (Oxygen Saturation in Arterial Blood) = 95-100%
9. SvO2 (Oxygen Saturation in Venous Blood)= 70%
10. Infant BP (blood pressure) = 65-115/42-80mmHg
11. Convex angle of nail bed = 160° angle
12. Tears produced by each lacrimal gland is approximately 1 ml of tear per day
13. Jaeger Card Normal Finding (Eye Test) = 14/14
14. Normal vision Snellen’s Eye Chart = 20/20 (numerator is the distance from the chart)
15. Pupil resting size = 3-5mm
16. Pupil normal size = 3-7mm
17. Number of teeth = 32 teeth per set (either upper or lower)

  • 4 incisors
  • 2 canines
  • 4 premolars
  • 6 molars

18. Internal jugular vein pressure = 2.5cm
19. Carbohydrate (CHO) calorie value per gram = 4 kcal (kilo calorie of energy)
20. Fats calorie value per gram = 9 (kilo calorie of energy)
